Unit #2: Early Man
The earliest species of human-like creatures are called "hominids." There were several species of hominids, the latest of which is our species, called homo sapiens. We will study the development of early man, beginning with hunter-gatherer societies and ending with the formation of permanent settlements based on farming. This is an important unit because it leads to the creation of civilizations, which will study for the rest of the year.
