Homework Policy
*Please check your google classroom and child's agenda daily.
Homework has a definite place in the educational process.  It is an extension of the learning experience children have during the instructional day.  Homework is designed to aid the student in achieving classroom and school goals, and it should never be used to punish or merely keep students busy.  Homework is not assigned and will only be unfinished classwork.  All assignments will be posted in google classroom.

Most of your child's work will be completed in class
.

#1.   Nightly Reading:  Each night students need to read at home. Studnets  should complete all of their assigned reading and vocabulary lessons in Reading Plus by Friday each week. If students can read independently or to another family member for a minimum of 30 minutes every day.

#2.   Remedial Drill:  An extension of work that has been introduced in class.  This homework is an individualized activity designed to help strengthen the child’s weak areas.

#3.   Unfinished Work:  Assignments that are not completed in class and are within the student’s capability to finish at home.  Unfinished work is not accepted.

#4.   Research:  Work that involves the use of reference materials.  It is often given on an extended-time basis.

#5.   Review:  Time spent at home studying and preparing for tests.

In the case of excused absences, students have two extra days for each excused absence, not counting the day of their return.

Late work policy:
  • Late work is due 2 weeks before progress reports/report cards.
  • Late work will only be accepted at your lunch.  Come in to review your late work during your lunch with Ms. Baldwin.
  • The highest grade late work can receive is 75% = C.

Long term/larger graded assignments (assignments made at least two weeks in advance) are due the day of the student's return from an excused absence.

If a student is ill but able to do schoolwork at home, I will be happy to prepare assignments that can be done without direct teacher instruction.

Please call the school, or e-mail me at
[email protected] by 7:30 am of the school day to make arrangements for work to be picked up.
